Are you trying to find out how to add a meta description to your page in WordPress?
Well that’s a great idea, because adding a meta description to your pages is a good way to increase your CTR (click through rate) which will in turn help your website’s SEO.
So here’s how to do it:
How To Add A Meta Description To A Page Or Post In WordPress
Adding a meta description to a page or post in WordPress is fairly simple once you install the Yoast SEO plugin.
Yoast SEO is by far the best SEO plugin I have found for WordPress and as far as I know, it’s also the most popular too.
So step 1 – get Yoast SEO installed on your WordPress website.
And then go into the page or post that you want to add the meta description to.
Scroll down to the bottom, where you should see a new toggleable area titled “Yoast SEO”. Open that area up and click on the “Edit snippet” button.
That will then open up a few input fields below, one of which will be the “Meta description”. This is where you want to enter your custom meta description.
Yoast SEO also goes a step further here and will help you get the meta description length correct by showing you a bar underneath where you’re typing.
If your description is too short it will be orange. If it’s about right it’ll be green and if it’s too long it’ll turn red.
And that’s really all there is to it. There are also some more advanced things you can do with meta descriptions and Yoast – like meta description templates, which is something I think is well worth checking out if you want to be ahead of the game when it comes to meta descriptions in WordPress.
